Overview

Hong Kong International Airport has long been one of Asia’s great global gateways, combining major international connectivity with technology, retail, dining and a highly developed transit experience. Located at Chek Lap Kok, the airport provides a dramatic arrival point into one of the world’s most recognisable cities.

Its passenger facilities are extensive. Travellers have access to airline and independent lounges, free shower facilities, baggage services, charging facilities, family amenities, prayer rooms, mobility assistance, Wi-Fi, business facilities and numerous relaxation areas. Self-service check-in and baggage systems form part of the airport’s emphasis on using technology to make journeys more efficient.

One of Hong Kong International Airport’s most distinctive architectural additions is the Sky Bridge, connecting Terminal 1 with the T1 Satellite Concourse. Measuring approximately 200 metres long and standing 28 metres above the ground, the bridge spans an active taxiway and is high enough for the world’s largest passenger aircraft to pass underneath. Glazing and sections of glass flooring make crossing it an experience in itself.

Shopping and food are equally important. Hong Kong’s reputation for retail and dining translates naturally into the terminal environment, with everything from luxury boutiques to local and international cuisine.

Connectivity with the city is another major strength, particularly through the Airport Express rail service, while onward links extend into the Greater Bay Area.

Hong Kong International demonstrates the qualities that have long defined Hong Kong itself: speed, efficiency, internationalism and an enthusiasm for technology. For passengers arriving, departing or connecting, it remains one of Asia’s most sophisticated aviation gateways.
